Ethical Sourcing


Some people ask what we mean by ethical sourcing. We try to be transparent as possible with our customers about where their money goes. Well here it is! Our termĀ ethical sourcing either means the item is fairtrade (you can read their certification requirements here), or they abide by the below requirements.

  1. All workers for recipient including employees and contractors have ability to file grievances with a designated employee who is responsible for complaints and suggestions.
  2. All workers for recipient including employees and contractors work the maximum hours per day per national and/or regional laws.
  3. All workers for recipient including employees and contractors are given a break of at least thirty (30) minutes per eight (8) hour shift.
  4. All workers for recipient including employees and contractors are given the number of maternity, sick, and holidays off according to the national and/or regional laws.
  5. All workers for recipient including employees and contractors have access to health and safety equipment as well as training at no expense.
  6. All workers for recipient including employees and contractors have access to emergency exits and/or escape routes that are clearly marked according to regional and/or national law.
  7. All workers for recipient including employees and contractors are given unrestricted access to potable water.
  8. All workers for recipient including employees and contractors have access to a first aid kit compliant with the requirements of the production field.
  9. All workers for recipient including employees and contractors have access to an eating/break area that is separate from the production area.
  10. All workers for recipient including employees and contractors are at least the age permitted according to regional and/or national laws.
  11. All workers for recipient including employees and contractors are paid at least the minimum wage according to regional and/or national laws.
  12. All workers for recipient including employees and contractors are free to quit their jobs in accordance to regional and/or national laws.
  13. All workers for recipient including employees and contractors are not forced to work under threat of penalties, violence, or sanctions.
  14. There is an employee responsible for managing, documenting, and recording relevant data demonstrating all workers for recipient including employees and contractors, are compliant with regional and/or national laws.
  15. There is an employee responsible for managing, documenting, and recording relevant data demonstrating facility is compliant with regional and/or national laws. This includes safety, signage, machinery maintenance for safety, etc.
  16. Room temperature of all production facilities occupied by any workers for recipient, including employees and contractors, is in accordance with regional and/or national laws.
  17. Ventilation of all production facilities occupied by any workers for recipient, including employees and contractors, is in accordance with regional and/or national laws. This includes windows, ventilators, air conditioners, and extraction systems.
  18. Lighting conditions of all production facilities occupied by any workers for recipient, including employees and contractors, is in accordance with regional and/or national laws.
  19. Sanitation facilities of all production facilities are available, and when occupied by any workers for recipient, including employees and contractors, are in accordance with regional and/or national laws. This includes frequency and level of cleanliness.
  20. Abuse of superior positions is not tolerated. There is a method for employees to file grievances anonymously without repercussion.
  21. Discrimination is prohibited. This includes discrimination based on gender, sexual orientation, disabilities, and age.
  22. No items are produced, or partially produced in a prison.
  23. Employees original personal documents are not retained with intention of compulsion or coercion.
  24. Machinery, equipment, and facilities are checked regularly for safety and functionality in accordance with regional and/or national laws.
  25. Employees are paid in a frequency compliant with regional and/or national law.
  26. Facility is in compliance with regional and/or national environmental regulations.
